Winter has finally arrived in Texas! Now is the time for me to pull out all my oversized sweaters and boots to stay warm in our 55°F weather. I know everyone reading this from up north just laughed hysterically at what we in Texas consider cold weather. No, it’s not 30°F below zero, but 55°F is deemed to be cold for us down here in the South! I have a few winter wardrobe staples that I tend to wear during our colder months. The pieces go with so much while also keeping me warm and comfortable.
I like to believe that I dress better in the winter because I’m able to layer and add different accessories. If you’ve ever been in Texas during the summer, then you know that you wear as few clothes as legally possible. So I like to take full advantage of these months. Now let me stop blabbering and get to my winter wardrobe staples.

Over-sized Cardigan
I’m obsessed with this cardigan! I wear it anytime I want to look put together, but still be comfortable and warm. It goes with any and every kind of shirt. I love to wear it with a thick knit sweater for more warmth and turtle necks for a more chic look as well. The way it flows over the body makes it super forgiving. The gray color allows it to go with almost everything. It’s perfect for an airport outfit as well!
Black Textured leggings
I was never a leggings person until I found these! They are thick and not see-through! They are more like pants instead of leggings to me. I’ve worn them with over-sized sweaters, a leather jacket, and different blazers. The leggings are very versatile and flattering, especially for someone with a straight frame. They have pockets, which is always a plus for me.
Black Ankle Boots
I’m all for an excellent black ankle boot. They make the outfit look so chic but effortless. I don’t know what I did before I got these boots a few years ago. They complete a lot of my looks now. The small heel and the soft leather allows for me to walk around in them all day. Zara always comes through with a simple, inexpensive boot.
Statement Hat
I’ve always been a hat person, but since I’m part of the big head gang, it’s hard to find a hat that fits. But recently I’ve discovered some hats from Urban Outfitters that fit perfectly. Hats add an extra oomph to an otherwise dull outfit. Big hats give off such a powerful aura to me. Since finding these hats, I’m now on a hunt for more, and a few from Lack of Color are on my wish list. Supposedly they are big head friendly.
