I heard good things about the Korean Skincare Routine and how it helped others improve their skin. So, after reading many reviews and trying the products for almost a year now, I believe I’ve found the best skin care routine to fix my dry, dull skin care.
My Skin Journey
I’ve recently started having breakouts, dull, and dry skin. I immediately started panicking and trying every product that I could get my hands on. I was in Target so much that the Starbucks barista knew me by name. After no success, I finally decided to go to a dermatologist. He immediately diagnosed me with perioral dermatitis. He prescribed me antibiotic ointment and said I should notice a difference in a couple of days. I was so excited to have the answer to my skincare issues finally. I tried the creams and only used natural skin care products for nearly a year before realizing that nothing was changing. I decided that it was time to take my skin care seriously.
Here are my favorite skin care products and routine that changed my skin for the better.

Step 1 Cleansing Oil: I stopped using makeup removing wipes once I realized they didn’t remove all my makeup. They also can become very expensive and leave my skin irritated. Cleansing oils remove everything. It also makes my skin feel soft.
My favorite cleansing oil is the Trader Joe’s face wash with tea tree oil. Tea tree oil also helps fight breakouts and clear them faster.
Step 2 Face Wash: The Tatcha Deep Cleanse Face Wash ensures that all makeup residue is removed. It leaves my skin feeling clean and amazingly soft. It also has little beads for gentle exfoliation.
Step 3 Exfoliator: I found out about Lotion P50 from a lot of skin care enthusiast. They swear by this product. Lotion P50 is life-changing. It does so much for the skin including exfoliating and balancing the pH.
Step 4 Toner: My choice of toner is the Thayers Witch Hazel Toner with Rose Petal. This toner has a light aroma of rose petals while calming any redness and irritation.
Step 5 Essence: The purpose of this essence is to insist the rest of your products in soaking into your skin. I use it to start my moisturizing process. The Pixi Rose Caviar Essence is my favorite and isn’t too expensive.
Step 6 Serums: I mix up my serums based on the current state of my skin. If it’s feeling dry, I will use the Neutrogena Hydro Boost hydrating serum. If my skin appears dull, I will use the Olivia Care Rosehip Oil Face Serum. I will use the Valjean Labs Clarify with Vitamin A + Witch Hazel Serum around the time that I have breakouts.
Step 7 Masks: Masks hold a special place in my heart. Again, I base my mask choice on the current state of my skin. I mainly use Neutrogena and Loreal.
Step 8 Eye Cream: If you suffer from dark under eyes, then I suggest you try the Tarte maracuja C-brighter eye treatment. Its super hydrating and makes my undereye appear brighter.
Step 9 Moisturizer: One of the most important steps to me is moisturizing, so I tend to splurge on them. The Lancôme Énergie de Vie the Smoothing & Plumping Water-Infused Cream is the best I’ve found. It’s not heavy on the skin. A little does go a long way.
Step 10 Sunscreen: Sunscreen is just as essential as any other skincare product. It probably the most important. It took me a while to find a sunscreen that didn’t leave a purple tint on my skin. After trying many different sunscreens, I finally found the Hawaiian Tropics face sunscreen and the Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel lotion.
